Production Designer
Light of the World feature length film.
Managed a completely remote production team across multiple continents to make a beautiful and timeless 2D animated film.
For 2 ½ years I was the Production Designer for the “Light of the World” feature length animated film.
Overseeing all visual development, environment and character design, visual effects, and crowd work.
When approached for this project there was an option to rent a large studio space, hire and fly an entire crew in— but with only a $20 million dollar budget, I knew that wouldn’t get us the best results and only further delay the already tight turn around time. So instead I hired entire production crew of the best artists my Art Director Mike Dutton and I already loved or always wanted to work with. This consisted of creatives from Denmark, Ireland, United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, and the United States.
Below is just a small sample of the thousands of drawings, artwork, designs, concepts, etc. that it took to create this beautiful and timeless looking film.
Part of being a Production Designer is being an artists, but a larger part of the role is being to manage large teams across many different skillsets, while staying on budget, and on time. All while holding to the vision of the, in this case two, Directors of the film. This meant countless rounds of feedback and revisions throughout the entire visual development stage, and managing the feedback of the production art with my internal team and making sure every frame was consistent coming from the production studio animating the film— Lighthouse Studios.
