Located in Cincinnati, OH in the neighborhood of Columbia Tusculum this quaint little deli sits along a main corridor near the Ohio River. Luke was commissioned to bring color and life to the back patio with a unique mural.

Colorful abstract mural of overlapping human hands and faces, painted on a wall near a glass door, with a small glass block window, on an outdoor patio with string lights and wooden flooring.

Whether we realize it or not, art can drastically change the spaces we use everyday. The homes we buy or build, the offices we work in, the paths we walk through town. When you venture out to find a place to eat, drink, or grab coffee—while the quality of the food is top of mind—there is also the desire to be in a place that feels good. A cafe that has a sense of intentionality and put togetherness can not only make the experience as a whole better, it can make the offerings taste better.

Daylily approached Luke with an open brief, as they were already in love with his taste of color, minimal yet energetic design choices, and the use of the human form bringing a sense of community and interaction.

This used to just be a blank wall that melted into the shadows, holding the door patrons would walk in and out of. Now it is a noticeable accent. A conversation starter. A burst of endorphins like looking into a blooming flower bed. Art in spaces like these should create an environment where people, in their own personal way, can experience a positive boost to their day.
